Miss Kay's Chocolate Sheet Cake Recipe

Chocolate Sheet Cake

  • 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1 Stick Oleo and 1/2 Cup Shortening
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 3 Tbsp. Cocoa
  • 2 Eggs (well beaten)
  • 1 Tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
Directions

Sift flour, then resift adding sugar and salt. In sauce pan place oleo, water, and cocoa. Bring to a boil and pour over flour and sugar mixture. In another bowl place eggs, soda, buttermilk, and vanilla. Add to above mixture and mix thoroughly. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. 

Icing

  •  1 stick Oleo
  • 3 Tbsp. Cocoa
  • 6 Tbsp. Milk
  • 1 Box Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Nuts
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
Directions

Mix oleo, cocoa, and milk in saucepan. Head over low flame (do not boil). Remove from heat and add sugar, pecans and vanilla. Mix well and frost immediately.
