Fried Deer Steak Recipe

IMG_5873

Ingredients

  • Deer (back strap or hind quarter)
  • Buttermilk
  • Flour
  • Peanut Oil
  • Phil's Original or Zesty Seasoning

  • Instructions

Cut deer into small steaks about 3/4 inch or less thick. If it is an older deer you will want to tenderize it with a meat mallet. Younger deer are more tender.
Soak the deer steaks in buttermilk for 1 hour.
Take out the deer and lay out on a big cookie sheet, sprinkle freely with salt, pepper, and Phil Robertsons seasoning.
Roll them in flour and fry quickly in peanut oil in large iron skillet.
Take them out of pan and set to side, then throw the grease out.
We eat this with Biscuits and good ole Mayhaw Jelly!
