For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
-1 Corinthians 15:16-20
What good would it do you or me if Jesus removed our sins but didn't solve our grave problem? if there is no resurrection—if there is no life with Him after death—all hope is lost! Listen. . . if there is no resurrection from the dead, I'd be going to duck hunt. . . a lot! I would probably neglect the important people in my life, thinking only of myself. If there is no resurrection, you could do whatever you want—as for me, I'd be staying in the woods! But as scripture above proclaims, Christ has been raised. And that changes everything.
Prayer: Thanks, Father, for the glorious resurrection of Your Son and for the promised resurrection of all those whose faith is in Him! I live my life as a reflection of my faith in that fact. Amen.
